Course Aims
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to
be competent in arrange of areas within the automotive sector. Work
would be undertaken but not restricted to a workshop environment
where the retail, service and repair of light vehicle automotives would
be carried out.

The field includes any destination, local or regional area, Industrial
precinct, site, attraction or onboard form of transportation. The
qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who apply a broad
range of competencies in a varied work context, using some
discretion and judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They
may provide technical advice and support to a team

Course Content
Participants need to complete Thirty Six (36) units of competency,
  • 3 Compulsory Units
  • 27 Units from the Technical Inventory
  • 6 Units from the Retail, Service and Repair or any endorsed
  • training package that meet the needs of the enterprise
NOTE: a maximum of 20 units of competence may be at level 2, and a
maximum of 2 units of competence may be at level 4

Job roles
Employees service and repair the mechanical parts of motor vehicles such
as engines, transmissions (clutch, gear box and differential) and suspension
systems. Tasks include discussing problems with drivers/users to detect
faults and carrying out their own diagnostic procedures. They will also repair
and service cooling systems, final drive assemblies, steering and braking
systems, electronic engines, body and drive management systems.

Course Outcome and Pathway
