The General English course has been designed for students who may wish to learn English for a variety of reasons.
They may wish to seek employment opportunities in international companies that use English as the means of communication;
others may wish to travel extensively, to further their studies or to seek employment in English speaking countries. In any case,
Ozford English Language Centre provides the perfect atmosphere to learn English.

Make comparisons with your classmates between life in your country and life in Melbourne, what do you like, what don’t you like? What is better here? What is better at home?

Learn to locate information and read online resources critically. Use research to create PowerPoint Presentations to deliver to your peers.
E.g. Plan a tour of your country or a country you would really like to visit to present to your classmates, putting together pictures and captions of famous landmarks.

Read about current events and issues. Develop skills to identify the main ideas and specific information. Practice the new language learned through discussions and activities.
E.g. Read ‘100 Places to Visit Before You Die’- discuss your ideas about this topic with your friend, make your own list of ‘must see’ places – then read to find whether the author has similar ideas to yours.

Visit a range of places in Melbourne related to the weekly themes, learn in more detail about history, the environment, and processes of how things are made.
E.g. Take a short walk to Lygon Street and experience ‘Little Italy’ – Lygon Street is famous for its Italian restaurants and Cafes. Order a coffee, and practice your everyday conversation skills in this relaxed environment.
